Terms of service

Last updated 7 September 2026 · version 1

Short, because the product is in beta and we would rather be clear than long. By using the hosted service, installing the software or signing in to the iOS app you agree to these terms. If you do so for a company, you confirm you can bind it.

Who provides it

HopMango is provided by VTS Services Inc, Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States ("HopMango", "we"). "You" means the person using the service and, where applicable, the organization on whose behalf they use it.

These terms cover the hosted service at hopmango.com, app.hopmango.com and api.hopmango.com, the HopMango software you install on your own systems, and the HopMango app for iOS. Our privacy policy is part of them.

The service

HopMango monitors servers, checks and websites, opens incidents when something breaks and alerts people. It has three parts:

  • The hosted service: the portal, the API and the MCP endpoint we operate, plus the synthetic probes at our points of presence.
  • The software: the agent and the server components you can run yourself. They are provided under the license in each repository; these terms do not narrow that license.
  • The iOS app: a client for any HopMango server, hosted or self-hosted. The app itself sells nothing and creates no accounts; it signs in to an account that already exists on the server you choose.

Beta: no service level yet

The hosted service is in beta. It is provided as is, may change without notice, may have downtime, and we do not yet offer a service-level agreement, an uptime commitment or a support commitment. We publish what we monitor and how; we do not promise what we cannot measure.

Beta means there is no service level yet; it does not mean the service is free of charge. Anyone can open an organization on the Free plan, and the Free plan stays free. The price of every paid plan is published on the price list, and the price of a paid plan is confirmed to you in writing before it starts. Any change to a price is announced to organization owners by e-mail at least 30 days before it applies.

Accounts and credentials

Accounts are created by an organization owner, by invitation. You are responsible for keeping your password, session tokens and API keys secret, and for everything done with them until you tell us they were compromised. Rotate a key or sign out of a device the moment you suspect it.

Owners are responsible for who they invite and for removing people who leave. HopMango revokes a removed person's sessions immediately, but cannot know they left unless an owner says so.

Your systems and your data

You may only enrol systems and monitor websites that you own or are authorized to monitor. Installing the agent on a machine, pointing a synthetic at a URL or adding the RUM snippet to a site is your statement that you have that right.

The agent runs on your systems with the permissions you give it. Program execution is disabled by default and can only be enabled in the agent's local file on that host, never from the service: that is a product invariant tested in our continuous integration. You remain responsible for what the agent is configured to do on your systems.

Your monitoring data belongs to your organization. You grant us the right to store and process it only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can export it through the API at any time and delete it by deleting the organization.

Acceptable use

Do not use HopMango to do any of the following. We may suspend an organization that does, and we will say why:

  • monitor, probe or load systems you are not authorized to;
  • send alerts or calls to people who have not agreed to receive them;
  • attempt to access another organization's data, bypass rate limits or interfere with the service;
  • store in HopMango data you are not allowed to give us, including special categories of personal data;
  • resell the hosted service, or remove notices from the software.

Mango AI is advisory

Mango AI proposes summaries, causes and groupings. It never executes remediation and never changes your configuration; a person decides. Its output can be wrong and is provided as an aid, not as advice you can rely on without checking. It is off unless an owner turns it on, and when it is on, redacted incident context is sent to Anthropic as described in the privacy policy.

Fees

The Free plan is free and stays free. Team and Business are paid, per organization, at the prices on the price list, confirmed to you in writing before the plan starts. They are charged in advance for the period you choose, monthly or yearly, and servers beyond the ones your plan includes are charged by the unit at the price quoted with the plan. We announce any price change to organization owners by e-mail at least 30 days before it applies, and no change affects a period already paid for.

Payments are handled by Paddle, who act as the seller of record for HopMango: your receipt, your invoice and any tax on them come from Paddle.com, and your card details never reach our servers. The iOS app contains no purchases and unlocks nothing: it only shows what your organization's server already provides.

You can cancel at any time from the portal, effective at the end of the period you have paid for, and the first payment on a paid plan carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. The detail is on the refunds and cancellation page.

Intellectual property and open source

HopMango, its name, the mango mascot and the design are ours. The software repositories carry their own license, which governs the code; where a repository has no license file yet, the code is provided for evaluation until one is added. We claim no right over your data, your configuration or your systems.

If you send us feedback or a patch we may use it without obligation, and you keep whatever rights you had in it.

Third-party services

Parts of the service depend on providers listed in the privacy policy: hosting, Apple's push service for the app, Anthropic for Mango AI when enabled, and a telephony provider for voice calls when configured. Their availability is outside our control, and their terms apply to their part.

No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service and the software are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Monitoring can miss things: an alert that does not fire, a page that does not arrive or a suspected cause that is wrong are possibilities you accept by using a beta.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or downtime, arising from the service or the software, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which on the Free plan is zero.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

Ending the relationship

You can stop at any time: delete the organization from the portal or the API, or write to us. We delete its data as described in the privacy policy.

We may suspend or terminate an organization that breaks these terms, or end the beta as a whole with 30 days' notice, in which case we give you time to export your data first and refund the part of any period you have paid for and will not get.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, and any dispute is subject to the courts of Ann Arbor, without prejudice to the rights consumers have under mandatory law where they live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. The date and version at the top change when we do, and material changes are announced to organization owners in the portal at least 30 days before they apply. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept them.
